I'll often sit and reflect on the past 12 months of my life...
Have I improved? Have I grown? Have I made an impact on others?
What could I have done differently?
Do you reflect on the last 12? last 6? last 3?
I'm starting to think that it might be too daunting to look at the past too far...
Instead to look at just the past 7 days...how did we do? Did we "lace up"? Did we eat meals that supported our overall wellness? Did we have too many sweets?
I think it helps us think of only the last 7 because it's fairly current and still in our current memory.
Then we can look at each of those 7's after a month and see how we did. Make sense?
It all comes down to what are we trying to achieve. Are we looking to drop weight? Gain weight like my son? Body fat reduction
? More pull-ups, push-ups?
It reminds me of Tony Horton saying in P90X..." how do ya know what to do if you don't know what you did"!
Tracking, reflecting, improvements...all of them are variables in striving to be better at one thing or another.
I'll give you a glimpse at my last 7 in terms of workouts:
Sunday: Worked out with the Sunday Funday crew at Tony's: Push and Pull
Monday: Cardio with the Sweatville crew
Tuesday: Shoulders and Arms, followed by a late flight back to Nashville
Wednesday: Nada! So wasted from traveling and I can blame it on the contractor starting work in my home gym, but really I could have gone to the gym that I joined. (more about that in my next post)
Thursday: Nad
a! No home gym space, raining, could've gone to the gym, thought about it, then all of a sudden it's 6 pm and time for dinner...
Friday: Nada! again! 3 days is the freak-out zone for me! I couldn't do my weekly OG cardio workout with the Sweatville crew ( the workout that started it all) I was planning to go to the local park to fire up the MacBook and Zoom, but it was again down pouring rain:/..and the new gym won't let me go on Zoom from their space:/
Saturday: Finally some space on the new wood flooring downstairs! We did a Moga session early in the morning, which felt great! Followed by attending the Music City Fit Expo that I had been looking forward to for weeks
! More about that and my attempt at a Ninja Course set up at the expo:)
I think this blog post came out of my 3-day freak out of not sweating or lifting a finger!
We look back on these weeks and can do 1 of 2 things...let it discourage us and continue down the less "moving" path or rally, lace up, and decide that the next 7 will be different. It doesn't have to be massively different, but small adjustments or commitments to not repeat the last 7 that I know did not serve my soul or my goal of thriving and improving.
How did your last 7 go? How many days do you workout? do you have "Red X" on a calendar? Nutrition, I think will be a whole nother blog post in itself! Hello, chocolate chip cookies and ice cream!:) Which btw, I encourage everyone to do! and not beat ourselves up over it!
Want to partner up with me for 7? Glad to help keep you accountable! free by the way:) FB messenger, text, email, whatever works for you.
Thanks for reading...I appreciate the time if you've gotten this far:)
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this narrative of reflecting on the last 7 days of your personal commitment to taking care of the most important person in your life:)
Peace, Love and Hugs!
Scott
